The Biava Quartet, winner of the 2003 Naumburg Chamber Music Award, is recognized as one of today's top young American quartets. Having established an enthusiastic following in the United States and abroad, the Quartet captured top prizes at the 2005 Premio Paolo Borciani and 2003 London International String Quartet Competitions, impressing audiences with its sensitive artistry and communicative powers.
Recent graduates of the New England Conservatory of Music, the members of The Biava Quartetviolinists Austin Hartman and Hyunsu Ko, violist Mary Persin, and cellist Jacob Braunare now teaching assistants to the Tokyo String Quartet at Yale University. Highlights of the Quartet's 2004-2005 season included debuts at the Mostly Mozart, Norfolk and Pacific Music Festivals, as well as return appearances to Lincoln Center, Chicago, Washington D.C. and the Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival as ensemble in residence.

Frank Morelli studied with Stephen Maxym at the Manhattan and Juilliard Schools of Music and was the first bassoonist awarded a doctorate by the Juilliard School. With over 150 recordings for major labels to his credit, the Orpheus CD "Shadow Dances," which features Frank Morelli, won a 2001 Grammy Award. He has made nine appearances as a soloist in Carnegie Hall and has appeared with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on numerous occasions, including at the Whitehouse for the final State Dinner of the Clinton Presidency. A member of the renowned quintet, Windscape, ensemble in residence at the Manhattan School of Music, he also serves on the faculties of the Juilliard School, Yale School of Music and SUNY Stony Brook. He recently released two solo CDs, Bassoon Brasileiro and Baroque Fireworks on the MSR Classics Label.
This year’s program includes performances of:
- Mendelssohn String Quartet in f minor, Op. 80
- Laderman Concerto for Bassoon and Strings with Frank Morelli, bassoon
- Dvorak String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 "American"

Tickets:
Concert tickets range from $25 to $100 per person and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rush student tickets are now available for $10.
A Candlelight Dinner will immediately follow the concert on the Swope Terrace. Dinner tickets are $45 each and are available until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18th.
This year's menu includes:
- Choice of tenderloin of beef with a black bean corn salsa on multi-colored tomatoes and lemony rice pilaf; or teriyaki vegetable kabobs with grilled tropical fruit marinated in Myers Rum and lemony rice pilaf.
- Crème Brûleé for dessert.
- Wine will be served with dinner
